Origins

Revelation was the name of the book (ISBN: 0440172160). It was written by W.A. Harbinson. In a nutshell, here's the essence of the story:

In Germany, during the Second World War, there were multiple secret projects in weapons research. The biggest advances were mainly the product of one man, an American, who had performed similar research in aerodynamics in the U.S. earlier in the century, and was angry because his government and university funding had been cut off.

He agreed to aid German's war effort, mainly because the scope of his vision required a massive budget and cheap (slave) labor -- both of which was available through Heinrich Himmler. Since he was not particularly in favor of Nazi Germany actually winning the war, but was using the resources of the regime for his own purposes, he withheld his best work and most spectacular achievements from his bosses.

When it started to appear to Germany that they were going to lose the war, a few of the elite in the SS began sending materials and slave workers to a secret base they had established in Antarctica. Their plan was simply to have someplace to escape to, should it become necessary. The American had other plans. In the last days of the war, he and a few SS officers escaped on the last U-boat going that way, and finally made their way to their base on the icy continent.

The American was eventually able to gain complete control of the colony. Using slave labor, he builds his mighty machines, which are largely invulnerable to the weapons of the world's armies. He trades with the government of the U,S., among other countries, and his ships are responsible for the majority of the UFO sightings throughout the world over.

I thought it was a good book. The author used a lot of examples of classic UFO folklore, and gave it the proper slant to fit into his story.

The second event that motivated me to institute the German UFO Watch was a documentable sighting -- my second UFO. (The first was very far away, above the open sea, and I didn't see it well enough to notice details.)

I was going camping, and was on my way to a camp site that I used frequently. I noticed that I was being paced by a craft of unknown origin. Luckily, I also had my camera with me, so I caught a picture of it, which is why I say 'documentable'.

After having the film developed, and studying the picture very carefully, it just seemed to me that this UFO has features of design that seem to have German influence. What impression does it leave you with?

The book Revelation is nearly impossible to find. Even the online bookstores indicate that they may be able to special order a used copy, but I wouldn't hold my breath. You can try it if you like, but I'd be watching for the guys in dark suits and driving big black government cars to come around and ask your business.

If the theory of a Nazi Germany origin of UFO phenomenon holds true -- or even if UFOs are from somewhere else -- those who pilot UFOs would probably be very interested in any successful national space programs.

During a recent research project on the history of the United States' space program, this author noticed something mysterious in a photograph taken in 1969 -- apparently overlooked previously. While the Apollo 12 capsule was being recovered from the Pacific Ocean by the aircraft carrier, USS Hornet, there were some "other visitors" present.

This photograph was analyzed and enhanced, using some of the best commercially available equipment. Here are the results of the enhancement.
